PURPOSE
This role is responsible for leading and coordinating construction teams in the execution of civil and structural projects within Kansanshi Mining Plc. The Construction Team Leader ensures that all construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
Responsibilities or duties
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures, and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment, and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Lead and supervise construction teams on-site to ensure work is executed according to approved plans and specifications.
- Coordinate daily site activities, including resource allocation, task assignments, and progress tracking.
- Monitor construction progress and prepare reports using project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and enforce site safety protocols.
- Liaise with engineers, subcontractors, planners, and other stakeholders to resolve site issues.
- Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Implement quality control procedures and ensure workmanship meets required standards.
- Manage site logistics including materials, equipment, and workforce.
- Track project costs and assist in budget management and cost control.
- Mentor and train junior staff and promote teamwork and productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
- Diploma or equivalent , Construction Management, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Familiarity with project management software (MS Project)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Membership to a professional body (e.g., EIZ)
- Valid Silicosis certificate
- Driving license
Experience needed
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction supervision or team leadership within the mining or heavy civil construction industry.
- Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary construction teams.
- Strong knowledge of civil works, steel structures, and construction methodologies.
- Familiarity with construction equipment and tools
- Attentive to detail and strong eye in finishings
