About the Work Environment
- Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 hours to 16:00 hours, excluding public holidays.
- Training workshops and laboratories.
- Occasional outdoor or industrial partner facilities.
- Exposure to heavy equipment and outdoor field work.
- Standing and supervising trainees for extended periods.

About the Role
To deliver practical and theoretical training in heavy-duty machinery maintenance to trainees.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured classroom-based training on heavy-duty equipment systems, including engines, hydraulics, powertrain, steering, braking, and suspension systems.
- Design and develop detailed lesson plans covering core and advanced topics such as Diesel Engines, Hydraulic Systems, Powertrain & Drivetrain, Electrical and Electronic Systems, CANBUS, Diagnostics, Telematics, and Maintenance Management.
- Translate technical content into practical, industry-relevant training aligned to operational requirements.
- Continuously update training materials to reflect equipment advancements, OEM standards, and industry best practices.
- Support development of laboratories and simulators.
- Ensure regulatory and safety compliance.
- Guide trainees in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagnostics.
- Demonstrate use of diagnostic software and measurement equipment.
- Supervise troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
- Teach diagnostics and telematics principles and applications in OEM settings.
- Maintain training records and support curriculum reviews and improvement.
- Coordinate closely with workplace mentors to support on-the-job learning.
- Participate in apprentice progress and review meetings.
- Design and conduct formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate assessment and training records.
- Coach and develop apprentices and trainees.
- Supervise workshop-based practical training.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Assess competence against defined standards.
Educational Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Mining Equipment Engineering.
- Diploma in Teaching Methodology.

- Registered EIZ Member.
- Deep knowledge of heavy-duty equipment systems.

- Minimum 6 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Minimum 1 year instructional experience.
