JOB PURPOSE
Lead the end-to-end operational value chain of the MRF — collection, weighing, dismantling, refurbishment, ITAD and mechanical shredding/separation — to meet throughput, recovery and quality targets safely and efficiently. Translate the facility's production plan into daily line performance and drive continuous improvement across all processing streams
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and schedule daily/weekly throughput across dismantling, the shredder and separation line, refurbishment and ITAD to balance capacity with inbound WEEE volumes.
- Own the operational mass-balance: ensure every consignment is weighed at the weighbridge, tracked by stream and reconciled from input to recovered fraction and residual.
- Optimise the shredding and mechanical separation process (ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics, PCB fines) to maximise recovery rate and fraction purity.
- Set standard operating procedures for hazardous-component removal (batteries, capacitors, CRT/LCD, mercury lamps, toner) and safe segregation of hazardous fractions.
- Coordinate the collector network and logistics schedule with the Collection & Logistics Coordinator to secure steady, quality feedstock.
- Drive plant availability and uptime by aligning the Maintenance Technician's preventive-maintenance plan with the production schedule.
- Monitor daily production KPIs and lead shift-level problem solving, root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement (Kaizen/5S) on the lines.
- Manage operational manpower, shift rosters, training and competency across operators, technicians, sorters and handlers.
- Control operational consumables, PPE usage and stock of critical spares in coordination with Stores.
- Report operational performance, bottlenecks and improvement initiatives to the General Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Degree/diploma in Mechanical/Industrial/Production Engineering, Environmental or Operations Management; 5-8 years in production, plant or recycling operations with at least 3 in a supervisory/managerial role; experience with processing lines, material flows and shift operations essential.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Production planning and scheduling; process optimisation and lean tools; mass-balance and yield analysis; people leadership across shifts; data-driven decision making; strong HSE orientation; problem-solving under production pressure.
