Background
The role involves fabricating, modifying, installing, and repairing equipment components and related assets in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, ensuring the reliability, availability, and integrity of operational and maintenance equipment while supporting business continuity and minimizing downtime.
Reporting Structure
The position will report to the Supervisor, Mechanical Workshops.
Key Accountabilities
- Undertake welding and brazing duties on mechanical components to the component to the required specification.
- Carry out required modifications on mechanical system components to improve existing system equipment performance.
- Manufacture required equipment components in the required time using workshop machines to facilitate maintenance work.
- Carry out fabrication activities most effectively and efficiently to ensure that the same are performed right the first time.
- Undertake any other job that may be assigned from time to time in compliance with company programmes of multi-skilling.
- Undertake and complete given assignment within allocated time frame to avoid unnecessary overtime.
- Ensure that all company resources under the section are used solely for company purposes and that there is no misuse of assets such as vehicles, tools etc.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Craft Certificate in Metal Fabrication or equivalent.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Metal Fabrication role and in a context of similar complexity.
