Background

ZABS is a statutory body currently operating under the Standards Act No. 4 of 2017. Under this Act, ZABS is mandated to provide Standardization and Quality Assurance services to industry in order to support production of goods and services of acceptable quality for national, regional and international markets. ZABS also acts as a link between local industry and regional and international standardization and quality assurance (SQA) organizations.

9. TRAINING ASSISTANT OFFICER (ZABS 07 x1)

A. JOB PURPOSE

To assist in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of training sessions by maintaining training records and resources.

B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the planning, scheduling, and logistics of training programs and workshops.
  • Coordinates with trainers and participants to ensure all training materials and resources are prepared and available.
  • Helps organize training venues, including setup and cleanup, ensuring a conducive learning Environment
  • Supports the development and updating of training materials, presentations, and manuals to align with current standards and practices.
  • Assists in the creation of assessment tools and feedback forms to evaluate training Effectiveness
  • Undertakes effectively the engagement of training clients in order to enhance the uptake of SQA services
  • Maintains an organized database of training records, resources, and materials, ensuring they are readily accessible.
  • Supports the administration of the training budget, including tracking expenditures related to training programs.
  • Ensure efficient processing of certificates within set time frames
  • Liaise with the Procurement Officer in ensuring that office resources (refreshments, stationery, cleaning materials) are provided in a timely manner in accordance with established procedures
  • Prepare reports as may be required by the Senior Training Officer for consolidation into monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the department.
  • Perform other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor.

C. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • ZAQA Qualifications verification certificates
  • A diploma in human resource, library and information studies, education, or a social science related field.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in training coordination or administration is an advantage, particularly in a standardization or regulatory environment.
  • Meticulous in maintaining records and preparing training materials, ensuring accuracy and Quality
  • Ability to build positive relationships with participants and trainers, fostering a supportive training environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with participants, trainers, and management effectively.
  • Meticulous in determining how to best address participant inquiries and support needs during training program
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues related to training logistics, such as last-minute changes in schedules or participant attendance.
  • Ability to address challenges in training material development, seeking input from trainers and management.
