Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review the transport policy from time to time and make recommendations to update the policy to enhance responsiveness to changes in the business environment and regulations.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of licenses and insurance for the entire Northrise University fleet to enhance compliance with the relevant regulations and law, and to minimize risks to Northrise University.
  • Coordinate fitness tests for the Northrise University fleet to ensure the vehicles and boats are suitable for use in Northrise University business and to prevent safety risks to Northrise University staff.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns on 24 hours basics, assess faults, and repair the faults found. Where the fault goes beyond expertise, find a suitably qualified garage to handle repairs, and later verify the repairs to ensure they are of high quality and minimize the recurrence of breakdowns.
  • Coordinate the purchase of fuel for the fleet and personal-to-holder vehicles to ensure minimal disruptions to business operations due to unfueled vehicles.
  • Issue topped-up fuel cards in line with the Northrise University procedures and policies, and analyze fuel consumption to ensure efficiency in the utilization of the administration budget for cost management purposes.
  • Assess motor vehicles availability, develop trip schedules, and use the schedules to assign vehicles and drivers as per received trip requisitions.
  • Ensure annual maintenance plans are prepared and advise on projected budget for inclusion in the administration budget, to ensure allocation of resources critical for the implementation of the annual maintenance plan.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities to ensure minimal breakdowns for enhanced cost management.
  • Ensure monthly maintenance and transport reports are done to ensure challenges in the provision of transport services are identified and appropriate strategies identified and implemented to address the gaps.
  • Recommend vehicles for purchase and disposal to support informed decisions on the utilization of Northrise University resources.

Work Experience Requirements

  • At least 4 years’ experience

Education Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 certificate
  • Driver’s License: CE
  • Auto/Heavy Equipment Repair (HER) Technician or equivalent
