Background
Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Sugar Company and is the leading Sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position under the Agriculture Department:
1. WAGES CLERK – (PERMANENT) X1 – AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position Wages Clerk. The position reports to the Agriculture Information Supervisor and operates within the Agriculture Function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely payment of salaries by daily capturing unionised employees’ work activities and preparation of payroll computer summaries in the CanePro System.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Capture and check daily unionised employee activities and prepare their wage payment in the CanePro payroll system.
- Closely consult with Agric. Information Supervisors/Agricultural Sections on CanePro payroll as well as Administration so as to ensure that the required data is received timely for capture.
- Ensure that all unionised employees’ work activities are captured on a daily basis and communicate gaps to Agric. Information Supervisors/ Sections for corrections where employees are missing.
- To prepare Computer Cost summaries (used by Finance Business Partnering) for the Agric sections paid on CanePro payroll system, after running every month’s payroll, and to harmonise the CanePro payroll system codes with the Finance department Unique payroll system codes.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS AREAS
- Should be 18 years and above
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- Minimum Diploma in Agriculture or Agriculture related courses, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, Human Resources, Business Administration and / or any other business/accounting-related courses
- Preferably 1-2 years’ work experience in heavy industry or agriculture related farm enterprise
- Affiliated Member of professional body such EIZ, AIZ, ZIHRM, CIPS,ZICA.
- Knowledge in Safety Health Environment Risk & Quality (SHERQ)
- Good interpersonal skills and working knowledge of computers as well as computational skill.
- Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
