About the Role:

Our client is seeking a reliable and organised Warehouse Assistant to join their warehouse team. The Warehouse Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the warehouse by supporting the receipt, storage, inventory management and dispatch of stock.

Working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor, the successful candidate will help maintain accurate inventory records, ensure warehouse safety and cleanliness, and support daily warehouse operations that contribute to overall business efficiency and customer satisfaction.

This role is suited to an individual who is detail-oriented, proactive and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, organisation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Warehouse Operations

Assist with receiving, inspecting and verifying incoming stock against delivery documentation.

Store goods safely and systematically to maximise warehouse space and facilitate efficient retrieval.

Prepare, pick, pack and dispatch stock accurately and within required timelines.

Assist with loading and unloading deliveries while ensuring products are handled carefully to prevent damage.

Support the Warehouse Supervisor in ensuring efficient day-to-day warehouse operations.

Ensure all stock movements are completed in accordance with company procedures.

2. Inventory Management & Stock Control

Conduct daily physical stock counts and participate in scheduled cycle counts.

Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and stock movement documentation.

Report stock discrepancies, shortages, damages or losses promptly to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Support inventory reconciliation activities and implement corrective actions where required.

Ensure stock is correctly labelled, organised and stored according to company standards.

Assist in monitoring stock levels and notify management when replenishment is required.

3. Warehouse Housekeeping & Safety

Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment at all times.

Ensure shelving, storage areas and workstations remain neat and accessible.

Adhere to all warehouse health, safety and security procedures.

Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or potential hazards immediately.

Support initiatives that improve warehouse efficiency, cleanliness and workplace safety.

4. Documentation & Administration

Maintain accurate warehouse records, filing systems and stock documentation.

Ensure receiving and dispatch documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately.

Record stock movements promptly to maintain inventory accuracy.

Communicate operational errors, stock discrepancies or documentation issues to the relevant personnel.

Support the preparation of warehouse reports and other administrative tasks as required.

5. Teamwork & Operational Support

Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental objectives and service standards.

Support stock takes, audits and other warehouse improvement initiatives.

Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with additional warehouse duties during busy operational periods.

Maintain professional communication with internal departments regarding stock availability and movements.

Contribute towards achieving warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

Grade 12 Certificate.

Diploma in Business Administration or any related business qualification.

Basic knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a warehouse, stores or logistics environment.

Experience using inventory or warehouse management systems.

Knowledge of warehouse health and safety practices.

Skills & Competencies

Strong organisational and time management skills.

High level of integrity and accountability.

Excellent attention to detail.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Friendly, courteous and able to work effectively within a team.

Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
