Role Overview:

The Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for embedding a holistic approach to mental, physical, and emotional health across all organizational programs. This role acts as the first point of contact for participants and staff requiring support, developing and delivering initiatives that promote resilience, reduce stress, and ensure a safe and supportive environment conducive to personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pastoral Support & Case Management:

  • Provide confidential, trauma-informed support to participants (and staff) facing personal challenges, including mental health difficulties, housing instability, or financial stress.
  • Conduct initial wellbeing assessments and risk assessments for new participants.
  • Maintain a caseload, managing referrals to external specialist services (e.g., counseling, therapy, social services) and following up to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with data protection and safeguarding policies.

2. Wellbeing Initiatives & Programming:

  • Develop and facilitate workshops and group sessions on topics such as stress management, mindfulness, healthy relationships, and work-life balance.
  • Organize wellness activities (e.g., yoga, walking groups, nutrition talks) to foster a positive community culture.
  • Create and distribute wellbeing resources, toolkits, and newsletters.

3. Safeguarding:

  • Act as a designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring all staff and volunteers are trained in safeguarding procedures.
  • Manage safeguarding concerns in line with organizational policy, liaising with statutory bodies (e.g., Local Authority Safeguarding Board) as required.
  • Ensure all program environments are psychologically safe and inclusive.

4. Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Track wellbeing metrics (e.g., engagement levels, self-reported wellbeing scores, referral outcomes) to assess the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Provide regular reports to management on emerging trends, risks, and the impact of wellbeing initiatives.

Person Specification:

Education: Diploma or degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or related field. A relevant qualification in Mental Health First Aid is essential.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a pastoral care, social work, or wellbeing support role. Experience working with vulnerable or marginalized groups is highly desirable.

Skills: Strong active listening and de-escalation skills. Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities. Ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Attributes: Empathetic, non-judgmental, and resilient. A proactive problem-solver with a calm demeanor.
