Position Overview
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the workshop, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality standards are met. This role involves managing staff, coordinating workflow, maintaining equipment, and ensuring timely delivery of projects or repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead workshop staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Plan, organize, and control workshop activities to meet production and service targets.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain and manage tools, machinery, and equipment, scheduling repairs and servicing.
- Monitor inventory levels and order necessary parts and materials.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff.
- Prepare reports on workshop performance, productivity, and costs.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience in workshop management or supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge of machinery, vehicles, or equipment relevant to the industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using workshop management software (if applicable).
Working Conditions
- Based in a workshop environment with exposure to machinery and tools.
- May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
- Physical activity such as standing, lifting, or handling equipment may be involved.
