FARM WORKSHOP MECHANIC
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the repair and maintenance of tractors, diesel engines, and farm implements is essential
- Previous experience as a workshop mechanic in a busy agricultural environment will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, including booster pump installations, borehole pumps, and centre pivot irrigation systems.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Planning and executing workshop activities in liaison with the Farm Manager, ensuring high levels of prioritization and efficiency.
- Ensuring that farm machinery and equipment are serviced on time and maintained in good working condition to minimize downtime during field operations.
- Diagnosing mechanical faults on farm machinery and equipment.
- Repairing machinery and equipment whenever breakdowns occur.
- Overhauling farm machinery and vehicles.
- Calibrating and setting farm machinery and equipment for field operations.
- Maintaining accurate records of repairs and maintenance carried out on all machinery and equipment.
- Ensuring the workshop, machinery, equipment, and surrounding areas are kept clean, safe, and organized.
- Supervising workshop staff.
