Job Title: Critical Care Consultant

Department: Anesthesia and Critical care

Job Purpose
To supervise and undertake the provision of critical care services in order to save lives of patients receiving intensive care services

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Commanding Officer - Anaesthesiologist, and shall be responsible for:
i) Undertaking effectively the diagnosis of conditions of critically ill patients in order to facilitate treatment.
ii) Undertaking effectively the provision of medical counselling in order to address patient concerns.
iii) Undertaking effectively the referral of patients to local and foreign health institutions in order to facilitate access to further care.
iv) Managing effectively the development and implementation of guidelines and standard protocols in order to ensure standardized delivery of critical care services.
v) Managing effectively the prescription of medicines and surgery in order to improve outcomes in critical care.
vi) Managing effectively performance assessment and quality assurance improvement for critical care services in order to ensure adherence to set standards and improve service delivery
vii) Managing effectively the development and implementation of critical care capacity building programmes in order to impart appropriate skills and knowledge in practitioners.
viii) Managing periodically monitoring and evaluation of the provisions of critical care services in order to facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions.
ix) Managing timely development of individual and unit work plans in order to monitor and evaluate performance.
x) Managing effectively human and material resources in order to facilitate achievement of set objectives.

Qualifications
The applicant must have the following requisite qualifications:
• A Full Grade Twelve (12)/Form 5 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) O Level Credits or its equivalent.

Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualification:
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Master's Degree in Critical Care Valid Practicing Licence
