Responsibilities or duties
Plans and directs production activities and priorities of the hardware teams.
Assists with planning daily, weekly and further in advance for smooth running of lake operations.
Ensure a weekly execution plan is shared every Friday of the week (for the following week).
Ensure mooring lines are inspected and fixed monthly.
Ensure all nets are inspected twice a month by the divers.
Ensure cage fixing on the lake is planned and fixed on schedule every week.
Ensure cages and centre buoy are inspected and fixed after harvest.
Ensure all boats are operated with care and maintenance is scheduled on time.
Conduct quarterly inventories for all the hardware equipment.
Ensure equipment damage is reported immediately and relevant action taken.
Ensure accountability is built into the team, and underperformance is not tolerated.
Ensure all cages are deployed with all net types neat and tidy with standardize knots.
Ensure all net changes are done on time with a right type of single net.
Ensure good procedure is followed on net exchange to prevent damage to net, cage and moorings.
Leads all operations, ensuring good procedures and productivity for divers, net mending, net deployment, cage maintenance & fabrications, and coxswains.
Instil a culture where pride is taken in the work, and care of fish and equipment is priority.
Ensures teams’ safety; promotes use and ensures provision of the right PPE, diving gear and ensures mandatory compliance to health and safety guidelines.
Assists in hiring and training of new team members.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Line manager.
Ensuring maximum team productivity and efficiency through inspection and fixing.
Ensures SOP’s are updated, adhered to and enforced, driving strong compliance.
Ensures the technical safety aspects of diving are checked and adhered to by the team at all times.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
BSc. Degree in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Natural Resource, or another related field
Experience needed
2 years + of Progressive supervisory Experience in a similar field
Experience working on the Lake preferred
Sufficient hands-on experience in fish cage farming preferred
