To prosecute criminal cases in the Magistrate Courts of Zambia in order to bring offenders to justice.

Key Responsibilities

1. Case Prosecution

  • Prosecutes effectively criminal cases in order to facilitate the proper dispensation of justice
  • Prepares and presents evidence in court
  • Conducts legal research on relevant statutes and case law

2. Case Management

  • Processes timely dockets in order to expedite the delivery of justice
  • Maintains accurate records of case progress
  • Monitors case adjournments and follows up on outstanding matters

3. Investigation Support

  • Guides and directs investigators in the conduct of criminal investigations in order to ensure proper collation of justice
  • Reviews police dockets for legal sufficiency
  • Advises on charge selection and evidence collection

4. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaises with court officials, police, and witnesses
  • Provides legal guidance to victim support units
  • Represents the State in plea bargaining negotiations

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Requirements

  • Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or its equivalent
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree
  • Must be a member of the Law Association of Zambia with a valid Practicing Certificate
  • Must be a Zambian Citizen

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience in criminal litigation
  • Exposure to Magistrate Court procedures
