To prosecute criminal cases in the Magistrate Courts of Zambia in order to bring offenders to justice.
Key Responsibilities
1. Case Prosecution
- Prosecutes effectively criminal cases in order to facilitate the proper dispensation of justice
- Prepares and presents evidence in court
- Conducts legal research on relevant statutes and case law
2. Case Management
- Processes timely dockets in order to expedite the delivery of justice
- Maintains accurate records of case progress
- Monitors case adjournments and follows up on outstanding matters
3. Investigation Support
- Guides and directs investigators in the conduct of criminal investigations in order to ensure proper collation of justice
- Reviews police dockets for legal sufficiency
- Advises on charge selection and evidence collection
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaises with court officials, police, and witnesses
- Provides legal guidance to victim support units
- Represents the State in plea bargaining negotiations
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory Requirements
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or its equivalent
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree
- Must be a member of the Law Association of Zambia with a valid Practicing Certificate
- Must be a Zambian Citizen
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in criminal litigation
- Exposure to Magistrate Court procedures
