Job Purpose:
To lead the bank’s balance sheet, liquidity, and funding management agenda by ensuring optimal deployment of assets and efficient sourcing of liabilities to support business growth and profitability. The role provides strategic direction on Money Markets and ALM activities, ensures adequate day-to-day funding, manages liquidity and interest rate risks, and delivers insights to support informed decision-making while maintaining strong governance and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
❖ Strategy Development and Alignment
- Lead the development and execution of Money Markets and ALM strategies aligned to country and group objectives.
- Drive optimal asset and liability management to enhance returns while maintaining adequate liquidity.
- Provide strategic input on funding mix, pricing, and tenor to support business performance.
- Monitor market conditions, interest rate cycles, and macroeconomic trends to inform strategy.
- Provide insights and recommendations to ALCO and senior management on liquidity and funding risks.
❖ Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, banks, and institutional counterparties.
- Engage the Central Bank and market participants on funding and liquidity matters.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, including Risk, Finance, and Coverage teams, to ensure alignment.
- Influence business units on funding strategies and pricing decisions.
❖ Risk Management and Control
- Manage liquidity, interest rate, and market risks within approved risk appetite and regulatory limits.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks arising from funding and market activities.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of findings.
- Escalate material risks and issues to senior management where necessary.
❖ Systems and Management Information (MI)
- Ensure accurate, timely, and insightful reporting on liquidity, funding, and market activities.
- Provide analysis and insights on market trends, risks, and performance.
- Deliver relevant MI to support strategic and operational decision-making.
❖ Governance and Control
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, dealing limits, and control frameworks.
- Promote strong governance and accountability across Treasury activities.
- Maintain high ethical standards in line with the Bank’s values and code of conduct.
❖ Team Leadership, Management and Mentoring
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the Head of Balance Sheet, Money Markets, and ALM functions.
- Drive performance management, coaching, and development of Treasury staff.
- Build a strong talent pipeline and succession plans for critical roles.
- Foster a high-performance, risk-aware, and collaborative culture.
❖ Effective Teamwork, Self-Management and Alignment with Bank Values
- Demonstrate commitment to the Bank’s brand, values, and ethical standards.
- Plan and manage work effectively, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines and quality standards.

Candidate Requirements
- Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits including English and Mathematics.
- Relevant business qualification and ACI dealing certification.
- Not less than ten (15+) years’ Treasury experience encompassing Market Risk, liquidity and capital management.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide verified academic qualifications by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
