Position Summary – Accountant Fixed Assets Stores
The successful applicant will play a critical role in managing financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, and inventory control. This position ensures compliance with accounting standards and supports robust financial management through accurate record-keeping, reconciliations, and internal controls. Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant – Reporting, the role is graded ZPSC7 and is pensionable.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
- Maintain precise accounting records, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Manage the Fixed Asset Register, overseeing acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation calculations.
- Supervise inventory and stores records, including stock reconciliations and periodic stock counts.
- Coordinate internal and external audits by providing timely financial information and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, accounting standards, and statutory obligations.
- Assist with budget preparation, financial analysis, and management reporting.
- Enhance internal controls and contribute to the automation and improvement of finance, asset, and inventory systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Partial professional accounting qualification such as CA Zambia, ACCA, ZICA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience.
- Registered membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is mandatory.

- Comprehensive understanding of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Strong expertise in fixed asset and inventory management.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and reconciliation capabilities.
- High integrity, accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.
