Background

The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) is a statutory body established under REA Act No. 5 of 2023. Its mandate is to increase access to electricity in rural areas of Zambia, thereby enhancing productivity, stimulating economic growth, and improving the quality of life for the rural population. REA is expanding and seeking talented individuals for the following roles:

Responsibilities

• Undertakes effectively the coordination of the development and review of the Rural Electrification Master Plan (REMP) in order to guide the implementation of rural electrification programmes.
• Undertakes effectively the conduct of reconnaissance surveys in order to facilitate the selection of rural electrification project sites.
• Undertakes effectively the conduct of technical assessments for rural electrification projects in order to facilitate project planning.
• Undertakes periodically the conduct of research and development activities in order to facilitate technological advancements in the energy sector.
• Undertakes effectively the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems in order to ensure compliance to set standards.
• Undertakes effectively the preparation and updating of the technical risk register in order to ensure effective management of risk.

Qualifications Required

• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, Validation Certificate from Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA), Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent

• Undertakes effectively the coordination of the development and review of the Rural Electrification Master Plan (REMP) in order to guide the implementation of rural electrification programmes.
