The Role
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and / or electrical aspects of surface mining equipment and components according to defined specifications and is also responsible for new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.
Key performance areas
All employees and workers are required to conduct themselves in accordance with our EHS Vision to achieve Zero Harm to; our people, the environment we work in, our customers and our suppliers.
- Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment & repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scope of work to restore equipment to original manufacture specifications.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
- Commission new equipment.
- Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
- Stay current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager
Your profile:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Tertiary Education preferable in Engineering field or Sales related
- Minimum 2 years working experience in a Mining/Engineering environment.
- Sales experience will also be an added advantage.
- Proactiveness
- Listening and logic interpretation
- Advanced communication skills
- Must be flexible and self-reliant, self-starter.
- Excellent time management and deadline driven.
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Strong understanding and compliance with Health and Safety in the workplace
- Basic Computer Literacy (MS Office)
- Physical and medical ability to work in a mining environment
- Driver’s license is an added advantage
