Objective of Job

The Accounts Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding customer accounts across Industrial & Mining applications throughout Zambia. This role combines technical expertise with strong commercial capabilities to maintain and build on existing strong customer Service Contracts and relationships, promote and sell engines, repower solutions, spare parts, service products, and long-term support agreements for the full mtu and Rolls-Royce Solutions portfolio.

Key Performance Areas & Duties

  • Develop, manage and maintain control systems for the above VCA or Service Contracts at various remote sites throughout the Zambia Region.
  • Do all regular price adjustments as stipulated in every contract and ensure that the data is correctly used.
  • All costs, parts consumed (scheduled and unscheduled), parts received, and records maintained by the teams on your sites shall be checked for accuracy and made available to the Head of Industrial Business.
  • Manage and Assist the Industrial Coordinator to carry out their duties related to contract administration.
  • Coordinate and assist all staff on your sites to achieve their contractual targets related to engine performance.
  • Ensure that all site facilities, tools and parts are in place in accordance with the relevant contracts.
  • Ensure that all costs related to regional sites are properly captured and controlled
  • Management of all on-site parts, stock control and warehouse related tasks.
  • Keeping record of your staff training needs and ensuring that they are competent to maintain the MTU engines in their area of responsibilities.
  • Analyse and audit reports coming from all sites relating to costs, parts, and engine defects and reporting any findings and suggested corrective actions to your teams or customers.
  • Create a budget for your division and manage all sites to work within it and are profitable
  • Visit regional sites regularly and hold regular meetings with customers or mine officials.
  • Ensure your staff adheres to their contracts.
  • Responsible for OHS at each site and that all the regulations of the Mine Health and Safety Act/OHS Act are adhered to and to ensure that Safe Working Procedures are in place at each site for your teams.
  • Ensure that the company’s TQM requirement in your area of responsibility will be managed and maintained.
  • Liaise between your teams, Contractor and the Customer where necessary.
  • Management of all engine services, repair and rebuild programs for your sites.
  • Maintain accurate records of the history of each engine for future reference and for planning QL4 engine change-outs.
  • Plan and develop staff to handle the duties as far as their VCA contracts are concerned.
  • Recruit replacements or new personnel together with the HR Division.

Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills specifically written, verbal and non-verbal.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Proven track record in closing deals.
  • Complex problem solving and systems thinking skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and being coachable.
  • Strong negotiating and administration skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (B.Eng / B.Sc / B.Tech / National Diploma), ZAQA verified
  • Post-graduate qualification in business/commerce/management is an added advantage.
  • Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Experience with Diesel Engine sales, repower solutions or after-sales support preferred.
  • Experience across Industrial and Mining applications is strongly advantageous.
  • Specific knowledge and experience dealing with Industrial Applications (Mining, or C&I).
  • Experience in dealing with and managing customers relationships i.e. familiar with structuring and closing out business opportunities Contract negotiation skills Ability to manage multiple customer accounts.
