Our Client Kalungwishi Estates Limited, based in Kasama, is inviting suitably qualified, experienced, and self-motivated individuals to join our operations team in the following positions:
MECHANICAL FITTER
Job Purpose:
The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment and machinery used in sugarcane processing and sugar production operations. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and production machinery.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, mills, valves, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend effective repair solutions.
- Ensure smooth operation of sugar processing machinery during production.
- Participate in shutdown maintenance activities and emergency breakdown repairs.
- Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
- Maintain maintenance records and prepare technical reports.
- Work closely with electrical and production teams to minimize downtime.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing plant, sugar processing plant, mining, or heavy industry environment.
- Experience working with industrial machinery and rotating equipment is an added advantage.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is an added advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Required Competencies:
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- High level of safety awareness.
- Ability to work shifts when required.
