Position: Optician / Optical Officer
Location: Clinic-24 Medical Centre, Plot 2851, Site and Service Road, KTC, Kapiri Mposhi
Job Purpose
The Optician / Optical Officer will be responsible for providing professional eye care services, dispensing optical products, promoting eye health awareness, and actively marketing the facility's ophthalmic and general healthcare services through community and corporate outreach programs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the facility's client base by building relationships with individuals, organizations, schools, companies, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities or duties
Clinical and Optical Services
- Conduct visual acuity assessments and preliminary eye examinations.
- Dispense prescription spectacles and optical accessories.
- Assist patients in selecting suitable frames and lenses.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and maintenance of optical devices.
- Maintain accurate patient records and optical inventory.
- Ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards in eye care service delivery.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to facilitate referrals and comprehensive patient care.
Marketing and Business Development
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase utilization of optical and general healthcare services.
- Conduct regular community sensitization and awareness campaigns on eye health.
- Organize and participate in outreach programs, health fairs, and screening activities.
- Conduct corporate visits to companies, institutions, schools, churches, and government departments to promote Clinic-24 Medical Centre services.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and community leaders.
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships that enhance service utilization.
- Represent Clinic-24 Medical Centre professionally during external engagements.
- Prepare outreach and marketing reports highlighting achievements and opportunities.
Customer Service and Communication
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients and clients.
- Respond professionally to inquiries and provide accurate information regarding available services.
- Build trust and maintain positive relationships with patients and stakeholders.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Optometry, Optical Dispensing, Ophthalmic Nursing, Clinical Ophthalmology, or a related field.
- Registered with the professional regulatory body with HPCZ or NMCZ and has a valid practicing license.
Experience needed
- Minimum of two (2) years' relevant work experience in optical practice or eye care services.
- Experience in marketing healthcare services will be an added advantage.
- Valid driver's license will be an added advantage.
- Experience in insurance billing is desirable.
- A marketing background or qualification will be an added advantage.
