Job Purpose:

To operator the running/operating the pumps, monitoring the chemical dosing, collecting data on running hours of pumps, pressures on pumps, voltage and currents being drawn by pumps, observing the operations of vital equipment and house-keeping at the Water Treatment Plants including backwashing of filters and cleaning of flocculators/ sedimentation tanks.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

Core Qualifications:

• Grade 12 (Form V) School Certificate with at least 5 O levels including Math & English.
• Craft Certificate in Water Operation or better.
• 1 Year relevant work experience.
• Registration with a relevant professional body.

Key Responsibilities

• Operation of both raw and high lift water pumps;
• Operation and management of flocculators, sedimentation tanks and filters;
• Proper usage and dosing of water treatment chemicals;
• Maintaining relevant plant records;
• Carry out Basic Electrical and Mechanical routine planned and repair maintenance;
• Maintaining working environment in an acceptable state of cleanness and tidiness;
• Handing over plant to relieving operator in a systematic manner;
• Securing plant equipment from damage from preventable causes and from theft;
• And other responsibilities that may be assigned by the hierarchy in the interest of the company.
