QUANTITY SURVEYOR
A Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost planning, contract management, and financial control of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget, on time, and to quality standards. The role requires registration with the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ZIQS) and strong expertise in project valuation and risk management.
Core Responsibilities
- Cost estimation: Review architectural and engineering plans to calculate material quantities and costs.
- Budget management: Set and monitor budgets for payments, inventory, and materials.
- Contract administration: Prepare contracts, tender documents, and manage procurement processes.
- Risk analysis: Identify potential financial or construction risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Project valuation: Conduct interim valuations, final accounts, and ensure value-for-money delivery.
- Stakeholder negotiation: Negotiate with contractors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
- Progress reporting: Document project progress, materials usage, and financial updates.
Core Skills: Communication, cost control, preparation of bills of quantities, and management of contracts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full Grade 12 certificate
- A Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Science, Construction Economics, or Construction Management, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience and managing projects
- Membership to Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ZIQS)
