Role Overview: Artisan Electrician Air Conditioning Jobs in Solwezi

The Artisan, Electrician (Air Conditioning) will be responsible for safely executing environmental and equipment maintenance work at the Smelter Plant. This role requires adherence to strict safety, environmental, and quality standards to ensure the wellbeing of both the individual and the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and legal regulations related to health, safety, environment, quality, finance, and human resources.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, and pressurization/filtration units using hand and power tools.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Connect wiring to circuit breakers, control transformers, and other electrical components following job specifications and local codes.
  • Inspect HVAC and filtration systems to identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with safety codes.
  • Advise management on potential hazards related to continued equipment operation.
  • Maintain a current ACU Technician’s license or identification card in compliance with government regulations.
  • Plan electrical wiring layouts and installations based on blueprints and safety standards.
  • Direct and train workers in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities, with a focus on supporting Zambian employees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the HT Drive and Environmental Equipment Specialist.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education level: Grade 12 (or Grade Ten equivalent).
  • Craft Certificate in HVAC/RAC from a recognized institution.
  • Certification by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) is required at application.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a qualified HVAC Technician.

Behavioral and Operational Requirements

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to take bold initiative.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and technical excellence.
  • Willingness to work standby shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in challenging conditions including exposure to noise, dust, heights, and confined spaces.
  • Good colour distinction and depth perception.
