About the Planning Coordinator Role in Solwezi

The Planning Coordinator – Mining Fleet will lead the maintenance planning team to ensure efficient and effective planning processes that optimize asset reliability and minimize downtime. This role requires close collaboration with execution and support teams, ensuring compliance with maintenance standards, safety protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities for Planning Coordinator Jobs in Solwezi

  • Supervise the planning team in developing and refining maintenance plans and schedules for the mining fleet, including haul trucks, shovels, drills, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance plans adhere to OEM recommendations, safety regulations, and the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of the +12 weeks maintenance plan, covering preventive maintenance, change-out components, and corrective tasks.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with operations, reliability, warehouse, and execution teams to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Monitor work order backlogs to prioritize and follow up on outstanding tasks.
  • Validate and approve job plans, task lists, man-hour estimates, and material requirements.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of records in the PRONTO ERP system.
  • Lead planning meetings and foster effective communication across departments.
  • Support shutdown planning and execution for major maintenance events such as PCR and overhauls.
  • Track and report on key maintenance performance indicators, driving initiatives to enhance planning efficiency.
  • Coach and mentor schedulers and planners to maintain compliance with best practices and procedures.
  • Lead zero-based budgeting for fleet maintenance and develop forecast maintenance costs aligned with PRONTO.
  • Ensure compliance with Work Management standards at Kansanshi.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Grade 12 school certificate or equivalent.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Welding Structural Specialist preferred.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems, particularly PRONTO.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience working effectively in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Strong knowledge of safety culture, risk assessment, hazard identification and control, and incident management/reporting.
  • All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
