Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the positions of Engineer – Short Term Planning to join the versatile Mine Planning team. We are in search individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator – Short Term Planning, you will be responsible for supporting the aims and goals of the Short-Term Planning section by ensuring adherence to LMC’s short term planning management processes, supporting mining operations and mentoring of graduate mining engineers.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Ensuring the timely completion of Daily, Weekly and Monthly plans and schedules; detailed pit and dump designs appropriate for mining operations.
• Management of special projects if and when required.
• Provide reports on actual and planned production statistics; and prepare weekly and monthly compliance reports.
• Monitor and track actual pit design implementation to ensure achievement of design criteria.
• Promote and assist with business improvement projects.
• Ensure that environmental policies and strategies are incorporated in the mine plans and designs.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of full Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in open pit mining, preferably in a mine planning role.
• A Degree in Mining engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Prior use and understanding of mine design/scheduling software preferred.
• Must have good communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft windows applications.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
