Job Summary

  • Zambia Head Transactions Services – Cash Management Products in Business Banking responsible for facilitating the development, delivery and management of Cash products and services (including Electronic Banking) to a portfolio of Business Banking customers across all segments namely Commercial South, Commercial North, Agriculture, SME and Enterprise.
  • Responsible for setting team objectives, including revenue targets, (in conjunction with Business Banking Director)
  • To facilitate support, guidance, advice and training to product managers for Zambia – in addition, to play a strong catalyst role to Relationship Managers to support product take-up and usage.
  • To facilitate constant product innovation to enable Absa Bank to become a leading Cash Management bank.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Cash Management team works closely with the relationship management team to ensure relationship plans are met and all cross-selling and sales targets are met.
  • Specialist point of contact for Business Banking Director, Segment Heads, Relationship Managers and Absa Group Senior Leadership staff to discuss specific problems; acting as a “sounding board” and recommending solutions or strategies.
  • Focus on deepening the wallet share of existing customer relationships as well as developing new relationships with a view of driving revenue and market share growth as well as cross sell. This will be achieved by ensuring Customers have access to the full suite of Absa’s products in addition to delivering world class customer service while maintaining a robust control environment.
  • To maintain, grow and sustain quality relationships with existing and new customers by ensuring that they utilize the suite of Absa’s products as appropriate for their business through Relationship Managers.
  • Consistently provide value-based management, the job holder will be measured on a risk adjusted portfolio contribution as well as other performance metrics including customer satisfaction.

Job Description

Business Management and Product 70%

  • Cash business strategy formulation – direct business to new cash revenue pools in collaboration with coverage teams. Drive Initiatives to increase deposits and volumes transacted per client.
  • Responsible for pricing across cash products with support of pricing committee
  • Wholesale liquidity mobilisation and management in collaboration with Treasury
  • Consistent product development to respond and anticipate corporate client demands.
  • Develop direct relationships with key product contributors for efficiency and improved service.
  • Driving sales performance – track and support
  • Driving Financial Performance – track and support
  • Support and ensure portfolio performance review monthly across in collaboration with segment heads.
  • Provide guidance and support to the cash management team on the identification and closure of customer transactions across the portfolio.
  • Monitoring of sales targets and deal pipelines to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Provide solutions and structures for customers’ transactional requirements.
  • Monitor and drive income across all cash management revenue lines.
  • Monitor costs associated with the cash management teams inc. budgets and product development costs.
  • Proactively research and stay abreast of product offerings from the competition.
  • Manage implementation of product and/or process changes.
  • Monitor levels of complaints and quality of complaint handling.
  • Achieve sales performance targets as specified and agreed to within annual objectives.
  • Segment each client/prospect based on anticipated need and forecasted growth potential. (Priority Client Targeting)
  • Leading the team of Cash Sales Managers in sales origination and execution of transactions across the full product suite.
  • Develop commercial awareness of the financial performance of the wider Business Banking business.
  • Research, create and follow up on a target list for potential new business.

Staff Management 15%

  • Resource planning, ensuring the correct skilled colleagues manage various functions of the Transactional Services with support from the Business Banking Director and Human Resource.
  • Agree and review sales and service targets with direct reports.
  • Ensure implementation of Performance Development plans) for all team members
  • Help team members to identify strengths and weaknesses in their own skills and attributes, through regular review and feedback.
  • Review employees’ self- development plans and ensure training and development needs are accommodated.
  • Facilitate career growth for employees within the teams and provide necessary exposure.
  • Proactively manage staff performance.
  • Assist staff to meet Absa Bank Behaviours and Standards.
  • Stay abreast of developments at the Centre to enable success transfer and assist in any development taking place.
  • Day-to-day coaching and development of Transactional Services Managers (Sales and Digital Specialists) in provision of consistent service quality to corporate customers.

Risk and Controls Objectives 15%

  • Manage risk and control effectively by applying applicable risk frameworks and embedding a positive risk culture.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to risk service standards.
  • Report all Incidents within policy guidelines and follow through to closure.
  • Ensure governance reports are actions and signed off as per frequency.
  • Review and ensure validation of revenue monthly.
  • Timely deal with and find resolutions for Business Banking customer complaints.
  • Understanding of own role in the end-to-end processes in which you play a part, including applicable risks and controls.
  • Adhere to Absa Bank policies and procedures applicable to own role, demonstrating sound judgement and responsible risk management.
  • Report all risk events/incidents/issues using the defined process for your business area and help to understand why these happened and how to prevent them in future. Proactively look for ways to improve the control environment by considering what could go wrong in the processes you operate and how errors could be prevented.
  • Continuous and proactive engagement with regulatory bodies and unions where applicable
  • All mandatory training completed to deadline
  • Review Governance processes and update frequently to ensure current and emerging risks are mitigated working closely with Governance manager.
  • Ensure correct interest rates are market on customer accounts and avoid income leakage.
