Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial equipment to ensure operational efficiency and minimal downtime. The role includes:

  • Performing maintenance and repairs that minimize repeat failures and meet breakdown response targets.
  • Ensuring equipment availability remains above target levels by adhering to OEM standards and Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs).
  • Conducting thorough equipment inspections and fault diagnosis to identify potential failures early and improve reliability through proactive condition monitoring.
  • Executing root cause analysis on recurring equipment issues to implement effective corrective actions.
  • Replacing components such as bearings, seals, shafts, and gears with precision, maintaining alignment and tolerances within OEM specifications.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by reducing downtime and optimizing maintenance costs.
  • Communicating equipment defects, risks, and maintenance needs promptly, fostering teamwork and collaboration across departments.
  • Complying fully with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, including correct PPE use and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.

  • Experience maintaining pumps, ring blowers, cooling towers, aerators, or similar industrial machinery.
  • Proven experience in preventive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems is beneficial.
