Job Role
Yalelo is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Sausage Packer to join our warehouse and production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for packing sausage products efficiently and accurately, ensuring daily production volumes are met while upholding strict quality and food safety standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in consistency and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Pack sausage products according to daily production schedules and volume targets set by the Production Supervisor.
- Operate and monitor packing line equipment, including fillers, mincers, and mixers, ensuring smooth and continuous workflow throughout each shift.
- Verify pack weights meet specified tolerances before sealing and dispatch.
- Inspect seals and packaging for integrity, identifying and removing any defective units before they reach quality control or customers.
- Maintain accurate records of daily output, rejects, and downtime.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, packaging shortages, or quality concerns to the Production Supervisor immediately.
- Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety protocols (HACCP, GMP, or equivalent standards).
- Keep the packing area clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation schedules.
- Collaborate with team members and shift supervisors to resolve bottlenecks and meet production targets.
- Participate in stock rotation and support general warehouse duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent; a certificate in food production, warehousing, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Previous experience in a food production, meat processing, or FMCG packing environment preferred.
- Hands-on experience working with sausage production machinery, including fillers, mincers, and mixers.
- Basic numeracy skills for weight checks, counting, and production record-keeping.
- Ability to work standing for extended periods and lift moderate loads.
- Willingness to work shifts, including early mornings, weekends, or overtime as production demands require.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene and food safety practices.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Physically fit and able to work in cold storage / chilled production environments.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse and cold-chain production environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times.
