Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Design Engineer with expertise in proposal creation, procurement and supply chain management to join our renewable energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, optimisation, and technical documentation of solar PV systems, while also managing the sourcing, procurement, and logistics of equipment and materials to ensure cost-effective and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of solar PV systems, including system layouts, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and energy yield analyses.
- Prepare detailed design documentation using software such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, and Helioscope.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, NEC) and local regulatory frameworks.
- Manage procurement processes: sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring quality standards.
- Oversee supply chain operations, including inventory management, logistics, and timely delivery of equipment.
- Collaborate with project managers, installation teams, and clients to align technical and commercial requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting of solar PV systems when required.
- Provide technical and procurement reports to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
- Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation.
- Proficiency in design software (PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV technologies, inverters, batteries, and grid integration.
- Familiarity with international standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
