We are seeking a capable and reliable Farm Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a medium sized commercial (arable and horticultural) farm in Ikelenge, NWP. You will be responsible for coordinating labour, managing agricultural activities, and implementing the strategic direction provided by leadership.
This is a hands-on management role requiring excellent planning, communication, and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily farming operations, including planting, maintenance, harvest, irrigation, and livestock care (where applicable)
- Lead supervisors, farm workers and casual labourers
- Execute strategic farm plans in consultation with the Chief of Staff and Managing Director
- Track and report progress on all ongoing field activities
- Maintain farm equipment and coordinate basic repairs
- Ensure safety protocols and efficient use of resources
- Assist with procurement and stock management (seeds, fertilisers, fuel, etc.)
- Support record-keeping and contribute to regular operational reports
Working hours: Ordinarily 40 h Monday to Friday, although additional hours may be required at peak times commensurate with this salaried management role.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in agricultural operations or farm supervision, including record-keeping
- Competency in Maths and English (for input calibrations, reporting, etc.)
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Reliable, honest, and proactive
- Able to live and work in a rural area
Preferred Profile:
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture.
- Christian values and sympathy with the Reformed theological tradition is an advantage
- Ideal for someone seeking long-term growth within a values-driven organisation
