Maamba Energy Limited (MEL) is jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH plc. The Company owns and operates a large scale coal mine and has also constructed and operates a 300 Mega Watt Coal fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.
Maamba Energy Limited is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who wants to build a career under Mechanical Department in Maamba, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province.
Purpose of the Role:
The Foreman will provide hands-on supervision of the team maintaining the Company's fleet of Heavy Equipment Machinery (HEMM) and Light Vehicles. The role ensures achievement of the minimum requirement of 85% equipment availability, enabling production and other departments to meet their targets while upholding high safety standards, maintenance practices, and compliance with statutory and domestic regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule maintenance, organize subordinates, and manage a large automobile workshop.
- Execute scheduled maintenance of Heavy Equipment Machinery and Light Vehicles.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on light vehicles and HEMM.
- Forecast and order spare parts for specific jobs and stock replenishment.
- Lead mechanics and technicians to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Ensure timely servicing of all light vehicles and HEMM.
- Maintain proper documentation, records, and prudent use of company resources.
- Set goals and objectives for the section and strive to meet them.
- Ensure compliance with Mining, Environmental, and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment and prevent environmental harm.
- Communicate effectively across departments, especially with Mining, to ensure equipment availability.
- Undertake project work for operations as required.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
Health and Safety
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Actively identify and report hazards to support the company's Zero Harm policy.
- Use and maintain PPE at all times.
- Adhere to company safety policies, risk assessments, and recommend improvements.
Ensure safety of personnel and prevent damage to company property.
Promote safety culture among employees.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- At least must have a Craft Certificate in Automotive Mechanics/Heavy Equipment Repair.
- Must be a registered with the Engineering Regulation Board;
- Minimum of a Class B Driving License but a Class C Driving License is an added advantage
- Minimum of Eight (08) years of experience in a reputable workshop with 3 years at supervisory level
- Experienced user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other design and planning software.

- Communication Skills (oral and written);
- Analytical and Problem-solving skills;
- Time Management, planning and organizing skills;
- Able to coordinate and work in teams; ensure creation of a high performing team; ensure smooth collaboration and ongoing skills development
- Sound knowledge of HEMM. To include the trouble shooting of leaders, excavators, cranes, Drill Rig and TLB (Backhoe), Light Vehicles, etc.
- Sound knowledge of Hydraulics.
