Position Overview
A reputable lime processing company is seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all mechanical equipment and systems within the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the company's occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective action recommendations.
- Conduct safety inductions and training programs for employees and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety standards.
- Maintain safety records, registers, and statutory reports.
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities, including drills and response planning.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Health and Safety will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing, mining, or industrial environment.
- Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong investigation, reporting, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
