Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a high-caliber experienced Welding Superintendent to join our Maintenance leadership team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the LME Manager, you will be responsible for leading all welding, fabrication, machining and structural repair activities for the Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) fleet.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of welding supervisors, tradespeople (Boilermakers/Welders/Machinists), engineers and apprentices.
- Plan and allocate daily welding resources across preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Oversee all welding and fabrication work on HME including Haul truck frames, dump bodies, suspension components, Excavator booms, sticks, buckets, and undercarriage, Dozer blades, push arms, and ripper frames and Wheel loader booms, lift arms, and grapple attachments.
- Oversee all line-boring and machining jobs on equipment and components
- Implement and monitor non-destructive testing (NDT) programs (UT, MT, DPI) to detect cracks or fatigue.
- Ensure all repairs meet OEM and LMC specifications
- Collaborate with maintenance planners and reliability engineers to schedule welding work during planned downtime (e.g., PMs, major overhauls).
- Identify and implement new welding technologies (e.g., CNC plasma cutting tables, automated welding systems, drone-assisted inspections).
- Manage welding repair budget, including labour, consumables, and contractor services.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Advanced Certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication / Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Metallurgy or similar.
- Minimum ten (10) years’ post-trade experience in heavy earthmoving equipment welding and minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience (Coordinator / Superintendent).
- 6G Certification in pipe and plate welding is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with SAP or other CMMS for work order tracking.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Minimum of an unrestricted Class B driver’s license
