Background information about the job or company
Working under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor/Store Managers will plan, organize, direct and control the day-to-day running of the shop to the satisfaction of the customers and ensure that sales are maximized, hourly budgets are achieved, brand integrity is maintained, set housekeeping, maintain hygiene standards and achieve targeted profitability.
Responsibilities or duties:
Supervise daily bakery section operations ensuring quality and efficiency.
Manage bakery staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of supplies and ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the production area.
Physically check section stocks against previous shift’s closings.
Open all the general paperwork in preparation for the day.
Ensure that daily trading hours are adhered to and that the bakery section is never left without management.
Check staff arrival times and conduct a team briefing and hygiene check and that all staff report on duty on time in neat and complete uniforms.
Conduct machinery and equipment check to ensure all assets are operational and have no built up of dirt or grease. Action where necessary.
Ensure that all repairs and maintenance requirements are identified and auctioned accordingly. (All critical repairs to be actioned within 48 hours).
Physically count stock and floats together with the incoming and outgoing shift managers.
To ensure economic usage of all raw materials ,minimize variances, unnecessary wastages and theft.
Check DRS daily for accuracy and sign off as authorized.
Ensure efficient flow of service.
Staff discipline and welfare, conflict management and grievance handling
Qualifications or requirements:
Proven experience as a Bakery Production Supervisor, Shift/Store Manager in the hospitality Industry.
Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
Business Administration, Food Production and/or General Hospitality qualification is required.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of food safety and health regulations.
Ability to manage operational tasks efficiently and effectively under pressure.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
