mothers2mothers Zambia is part of an African based organization working in ten other countries in Africa with a mission of positively impacting the health of mothers and their families by putting mothers at the heart of improving RMNCH-N in Zambia. Partnering with GRZ MOH mothers2mothers will be implementing the three (3) year Mentor Mother Model Project at Chipata 1st Level hospital in Lusaka District and surrounding health facilities Chaisa, Chazanga, Chipata, Ng’ombe, and Mandevu from November 2019 to November 2021.
The Mentor Mother Model Project continues to aim for improved HIV outcomes for vulnerable pregnant women, mothers, infants, and children 0-3 years; and the utilization of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services among pregnant women, mothers, and male partners. mothers2mothers seeks to recruit, qualified:
Position Title: Mentor Mother (20)
Position Type: Full Time
Location: Chipata Clinic
Sub Location: Chaisa, Chazanga, Ng’ombe, and Mandevu.

Job Responsibilities:
• Lead and/or participate in group education sessions through educating pregnant women, mothers, and companions on PMTCT, RMNCH, and integration of NACS and family planning and related subjects at various perinatal service points.
• Provide post-test education, counselling and linkage to care (ART Clinic) for HIV-positive women, and their families during pregnancy and after delivery.
• Invite HIV+ clients and family members to participate in group support sessions, and refer to other services as advised by health service providers.
• Document all support sessions conducted at service delivery points and client information (both electronic and paper based) management tools, as per programme procedures. Utilise information from client management tools to provide tailored support during client sessions.
• Conduct active follow-up of clients missing key appointments.
• Participate in developing schedules and topics for group sessions for Mentor Mother clients.
• Stimulate ART adherence assessments and home based support on other medications for the mother and baby.
• Work closely with all pregnant women and new mothers through encouraging those in labour or deliver with unknown HIV status to undergo testing, and promote safe motherhood in the community.
• Issue referral cards to pregnant women to promote and monitor uptake of services.
• Collect and document data on a daily and monthly basis to facilitate the submission reports to Mentor Mother Team Leader.
• Participate in facility and community meetings to ensure coordination and collaboration to guarantee integration of Mentor Mother services.
• Support training and capacity building/mentorship activities to improve programme service quality.
• Lead and participate in community meetings to educate pregnant women, mothers and their companions on Safe Motherhood. Continuously liaise with the NHCs responsible for her catchment area on issues related to improving service delivery.
• Conduct household visits with pregnant and breastfeeding mothers with children less than 24 months, providing the required support/education for households
• Conduct TB, STI and MUAC pre-screening, referrals and linkages to health facilities for further management.
• Sync electronic device daily to ensure data uploads, and submit reports to the Field Coordinator and Community Field Coordinator respectively.

  Job Qualifications:
• Grade 12 certificate of education, those with tertiary education will have an added advantage
• Certification/Training in counselling skills will be an added advantage
• Living positively with HIV positive (HIV+) status
• On ART at Chipata Clinic and Chaisa, Chazanga, Chipata, Ng’ombe, and Mandevu (attach photocopy of card)
• Must live within the Chipata 1st Level Hospital catchment area
• Ideally, first-hand experience of PMTCT, preferably not more than 2 years ago
• If she has a child, the child should not be less than 6 months and not more 2 years
• Must be between 16 and 35 years old
• Disclosure of HIV status to at least one person
• Active on community activities
• Fluent in English, Nyanja and Bemba
• Strong numeracy skills
• Ability to listen and empathise
• Experience and passion for HIV related work
