Background

CHINA COPPER MINES LIMITED (CCM) was established in 2010 as a large-scale mining group established by private owning groups in the Republic of Zambia, known as the “country of copper mines”. The company’s business scope covers resource exploration, mining, hydrometallurgy, sulfuric acid chemical industry, trading and mining investment. In recent years, CCM had sprung up in the mining industry in Zambia with outstanding performance; in particular, the “low-grade, complex and difficult ore-treating process” is a leading technology with great technical and economic advantages. China Copper Mines Limited is located in Fitula Mimbula, Chingola town, Copperbelt Province

Responsibilities

Operate mobile, overhead, or fixed cranes safely and efficiently to lift, move, and position Loads within mine, plant, and workshop areas.

Regularly checking machinery, replacing worn parts (like belts, seals, or filters), and lubricating gears to prevent breakdowns.

Running tests and using diagnostic tools to pinpoint the root cause of electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic malfunctions.

Dismantling equipment to fix or replace defective parts, then reassembling and testing the machinery to ensure it meets safety standards.

Maintaining the hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments used for repairs, and occasionally assisting with general facility upkeep.

Logging completed repairs, part replacements, and inspection results to track the lifespan and performance of the equipment.

Qualifications

A grade 12 certificate or high school diploma is standard.

A certificate, diploma, or craft certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade from a recognized vocational training institute (such as a TEVETA-accredited institution in Zambia).

A strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical circuits, and basic blueprint reading.

Expertise in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic meters (like multimeters).

Deep familiarity with workplace safety regulations and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices to safely de-energize machinery before working on it.

The ability to think logically under pressure to figure out why a machine isn’t working.

Experience

The role involves lifting heavy parts, standing for long periods, bending, and working in tight or awkward spaces.

Precision is critical; missing a loose bolt or ignoring a minor leak can lead to catastrophic equipment failure later.

Additional Requirements

Grade 12 certificate.

Curriculum Vitae.

Valid silicosis certificate.
