JOB DETAILS:
Rolls Royce Solutions Africa, Zambia branch has a vacant temporary position for Engineering Project specialist – mtu Repower Project (mtu electronic diagnostic technical specialist)
The successful applicant needs to take note of the following;
• This is a temporary deployment to multiple mine sites in Lumwana, Solwezi, Kalumbila and Kansanshi in North-western Province.
• Stand-by is mandatory.
• Job will be in a surface & underground mining environment

Objective of Job
To competently and successfully re-engineer and ultimately retrofit (repower) multiple mining trucks with mtu specific highly advanced electronic controlled engines.

Key Performance Areas & Duties
1. Responsibilities shall inter alia include the following:
• Leading and transferring specialist skills to the local technical Zambian team in repowering mining trucks with mtu engines.
• 24 (twenty-four) hour standby and call out service on mtu engines (where needed during the projects).
• Represent Rolls-Royce Solutions Africa, Zambia branch in a professional way on site as well as after hours.
• Daily reporting to the client, Zambian Country Manager and Head of Industrial Operations.
• Perform any duties and assume any responsibilities as may be agreed between the parties from time to time.
• Optimize the operational safety and equipment safety in always ensuring a safe work environment on the mine.
• Effectively manage customer expectations in these projects, by stringently managing the projects.
• Mentoring and skills development of the Zambian technical support team.
• Weekly reports on safety, activities undertaken, identifying opportunities, threats, issues and recommendations.
• Ensure adherence to all Rolls-Royce Global and local procedures/compliance/conduct and SHEQ standards as well as housekeeping requirements at the mine.
• Repower project management.
• Logistical (Warehouse and inventory) services.

2. Qualifications & Experience
• Qualified Diesel Fitter/Diesel Mechanic/Millwright.
• At least 10 years post qualification experience on mtu specific products.
• Proven track record as an engine specialist with exceptional electronic diagnostic skills.
• Must have at least 10 years MDEC/ DDEC Experience and active training certification.
• Must be mtu QLI, QL2 and QL3 range certified and competent.

3. Software Access
• Computer literacy (Experience on OEM diagnostic packages is a necessity).
• Microsoft Office package.
