Purpose of the Job:
Kilimo Trust is inviting expressions of interest from qualified individuals to support a comprehensive data collection exercise for a fish market and value chain study in Zambia, specifically targeting the Kasumbalesa border and surrounding areas.
The objective of the study is to map the flow of fish from input suppliers to end consumers with a strong emphasis on gender and youth perspectives. Selected enumerators will be responsible for participating in a one-day online training workshop, collaborating with Kilimo Trust and Lattice staff to develop a detailed enumeration schedule, conducting interviews with various respondents, and ensuring accurate and complete data collection.
Enumerators Key Activities Include:
i) Attend a 1-day enumerators’ online training workshop.
ii) Work with Kilimo Trust staff & Lattice staff to develop and agree on an enumeration schedule.
iii) Conduct interviews with individual respondents and record responses.
iv) Comply with the requirements necessary for conducting a successful interview.
v) Identify and report problems in obtaining valid data.
vi) Review data obtained from the interview for completeness and accuracy.
vii) Identify and resolve inconsistencies in interviewees' responses using appropriate questioning or explanation.
viii) Submit data collected every day via KOBO Collect.
ix) Ensure that all data submitted is complete and accurate.
x) Ensure that all questionnaires are accounted for and submitted.
Enumerator skills, Experiences and Qualifications
i) A Degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture extension, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Forestry, Agribusiness, Environmental studies, Marine studies, Social Sciences, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, or any other related field.
ii) Possession of a Master’s or Post Graduate Diploma in any of the relevant fields will be an added advantage.
iii) Fisheries extension officers of the respective areas, as well as other applicants from study localities, will be given priority
iv) Experience in conducting surveys, analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting information/reports.
v) Fluent in English, Swahili, and the local language of Kasumbalesa, where the research will focus, will be an added advantage.
