We’re hiring an Experienced Horticulturist with Agronomy expertise

Location: Lusaka, Zambia | York Farm

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

At York Farm, we’re proud of our legacy. With over 40 years in operation, we’ve grown from strength to strength— providing fresh, quality produce for local, regional, and international markets. Operating across two sites, our farms offer both diversity in soil and climate, giving us the ability to grow a wide variety of crops efficiently and sustainably.

We’re looking for an experienced Horticulturist with an Agronomy background to help us take our horticultural operations to the next level. If you’re someone who enjoys the rhythm of the land, thrives in a leadership role, and wants to make a meaningful impact — you might be just who we’re looking for.

About You

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience working in medium to large-scale farming operations
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Confident making decisions independently, while also working well with others
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-focused farming environment
  • Ability to communicate well in both written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of the local language is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products is essential (Excel, Word etc)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Overseeing all horticultural crops — both in open fields and greenhouses at both sites.
  • Managing and monitoring fertigation and spray programs
  • Planning crop cycles, field utilization, and upcoming requirements
  • Responding to real-time crop needs with informed agronomic decisions
  • Allocating staff efficiently and overseeing training for new team members
  • Ensuring cost-effective operations and sticking to budgets
  • Staying current with farming trends and innovations

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, based on your qualifications and experience
  • Performance based incentives
  • On-farm accommodation provided
  • Motorbike for on-farm mobility
  • Access to local medical care
  • Opportunities for ongoing formal and informal learning
  • Opportunity to grow within the company

This role is ideal for someone who has grown with the land—steady, smart, and ready to lead with both heart and experience. If you’re looking for a role that values your hard-earned knowledge and offers space to thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
