About the Role – Logistics Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As a Logistics Officer at d.light Zambia, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire logistics process, ensuring timely and accurate movement of products into, between, and out of our warehouses and stocking locations. This role involves managing shipment tracking, dispatch coordination, transport documentation, proof-of-delivery closure, and logistics reporting. You will work closely with internal teams and third-party providers to guarantee every shipment is authorized, traceable, and properly documented, escalating any issues promptly to maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Inbound Logistics & Receiving: Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries, accurate documentation, efficient offloading, and immediate reporting of any shortages or damages.
• Dispatch & Distribution: Manage stock transfers and deliveries from picking through dispatch, ensuring accurate documentation, shipment tracking, and optimized route and load planning.
• Transporter & Vendor Coordination: Oversee transporter and courier details, quotations, service performance, documentation, invoices, and resolve delivery issues or claims.
• Inventory Movement Controls: Verify that physical stock movements align with approved system transactions and maintain accurate movement records and product traceability.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all loading, transportation, and handling activities comply with safety, security, licensing, and product-handling standards.
• Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Track shipment performance, logistics costs, proof-of-delivery, and exceptions; prepare regular reports and identify opportunities to enhance service levels and cost efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in logistics, distribution, transport coordination, warehouse operations, or supply chain execution.
• Experience in multi-location, last-mile distribution, consumer durables, solar, FMCG, telecommunications, or similar sectors is advantageous.
• Proficient knowledge of inbound logistics, dispatch planning, route coordination, proof-of-delivery management, reverse logistics, and transporter administration.
• Strong understanding of stock-movement controls, serialized inventory, and separation of custody and transaction responsibilities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with ERP, warehouse, inventory, or CRM systems is a plus.
• Sound commercial judgment with the ability to verify quotations, rates, invoices, and supporting documents.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and follow-through skills with high attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills, tactful stakeholder management, and confidence to escalate risks when necessary.
• High integrity, ownership, and reliability, able to perform under operational pressure.
• Willingness to work in warehouse and field environments, travel as required, and support occasional extended-hour activities.
• A valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
