The panel beater is responsible for repairing, restoring, and maintaining the structural and aesthetic integrity of vehicles. This role involves assessing damage, reshaping and aligning panels, welding and fitting replacements, and preparing vehicles for painting. The panel beater ensures that all repairs meet safety, quality, and manufacturer standards, contributing to customer satisfaction and the reputation of Nicol Technologies Limited’s flagship Vroomotive Auto Repair Centre.
Responsibilities or duties
- Assess vehicle damage and determine repair requirements.
- Remove dents, reshape panels, and realign vehicle frames.
- Cut, weld, and join replacement panels using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, filling, and priming.
- Collaborate with spray painters, mechanics, and service advisors to deliver seamless repairs.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working environment.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Strong technical knowledge of autobody repair methods and materials.
- Skilled in welding, cutting, and panel alignment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with other automotive specialists.
Experience needed
- Education: Minimum Diploma in Automotive Technology, Panel Beating and Spray Painting, or related field.
- Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).(Preffered)
- Experience: At least 3 years of proven autobody repair and panel-beating experience.
- Specialization: Strong background in vehicle body restoration, dent removal, welding, and spray painting preparation.
