The Resident Medical Officer will support the Principal Medical Officer in providing consultation and leading the team of health providers at the facility. She/he will be accountable for the following roles and responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities

ï‚· Supervise other facility staff

ï‚· Diagnosis and treatment of patients

ï‚· Undertake determination for observation and referral of patients

ï‚· Assists build technical capacity among staff through on-the-job training and

mentorship

ï‚· Engaging and coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure

that all parties are on track with the clinic’s vision, requirements, and schedules

ï‚· Ensuring that quality standards are adhered to in line with HPCZ stipulations

ï‚· Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant

information

Position Competencies, skills and qualifications

ï‚· MBChB or equivalent from a reputable university

ï‚· Full registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia

ï‚· Demonstrated experience in treating common ailments including malaria, upper

respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, TB etc.

ï‚· Able to undertake minor surgical operations, excisions and suturing, dilatation

and curettage, minor fracture manipulation and alignment, etc.

ï‚· Excellent Computer skills- Excel, MS Word & PowerPoint

ï‚· Strong communication skills

ï‚· Able to lead a team

Supervision and Reporting

The RMO will report to the Principal Medical Officer

  • Supervise other facility staff
