Job Description

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Safety Documentation and Systems Specialist – LEP (Fixed Term) to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator Safety Document – LEP, you will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and ensuring compliance with our safety documentation systems and procedures.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and compliant safety documentation, including policies, procedures, and records.
  • Ensure safety systems, including permits, training records, and incident reporting, are functioning effectively.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Assist with internal audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and support to employees on safety documentation and systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of safety documentation and systems.
  • Collaborating across the project to compile and update vital safety information.
  • Supervising the distribution and retrieval of safety documents, supporting efficient document management.
  • Facilitating internal- and external audits and inspections by swiftly providing required documentation.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in safety documentation and systems management.
  • Experience with safety management systems and software will be added advantage
  • Strong communication skills to present findings and recommendations to various audiences.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Member of the relevant Professional Body.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Clean Class B or C manual Driver’s license
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination
