Responsibilities or duties
- Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) to determine the required reinforcement specifications .
- Cut, bend, and shape steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh to the required dimensions using hand tools, power tools, and cutting machines .
- Position and secure the reinforcement steel into formwork, columns, beams, slabs, and foundations before concrete is poured .
- Tie and fasten rebar together using tying wire, clips, or welding techniques to create stable reinforcement cages and structures .
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades on-site (e.g., carpenters, groundworkers) to ensure work progresses as per the construction programme .
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area, complying with all site health and safety regulations .
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and structural integrity requirements .
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Trade Certificate in Steel Fixing
- Trade Certificate in Carpentry
- Construction Experience
