Under the overall guidance of the Director of Youth Development and direct supervision of the National Coordinator – Youth Programme or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the Volunteer Promotion Assistant will:
Responsibilities or duties
• Support the Implementation of the youth fellowship programme and youth volunteerism framework including youth and arts initiatives under MYSA.
• Support the implementation of the International Volunteer Year 2026 (IVY’26) National Action Plan.
• Coordinate youth activities with line ministries, partners and UN Agencies.
• Assist in identifying and mapping existing youth volunteer initiatives, networks, and opportunities across sectors.
• Working in collaboration with the Zambia Volunteers Coordinating Committee (ZVCC), contribute to the design of outreach strategies to promote youth volunteerism at national and community levels.
• Support the organization of volunteer-related events, campaigns, and capacity-building workshops.
• Assist in documenting and sharing impact stories, case studies, and best practices in youth volunteering.
• Maintain a database of youth volunteers and partner organizations engaged in volunteer activities.
• Collaborate with communications staff to promote volunteerism through digital and traditional media.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for volunteer engagement activities.
• Support the integration of volunteerism in youth and arts events.
• Support the promotion of volunteerism in Universities, Secondary and Primary Schools, and communities.
• Perform any other duties as assigned to support the effective implementation of the youth volunteerism agenda.

• Demonstrated experience in supporting youth development programmes, volunteer coordination, community engagement, or other relevant programmes;

• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
• Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment;
• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
• Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.
