Job Purpose

The Workshop Technician is responsible for precision optical lens cutting (Edging) using state-of-the-art workshop machinery Automatic edger and blocker. Following this assembling the spectacles having them fitted in the Optical frame.

This role ensures orders are processed strictly on time, maintained to high-quality standards, updated in tracking software, and packaged securely for branch dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

Lens Glazing & Assembly: Edge, bevel, groove, drill, and fit single vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses using automatic edging machine into full-rim, supra (half-rim), and rimless frames, adhering strictly to machine load and cutting capacities.

Queue & Time Management: Organize and process orders sequentially based on collection date and time. Glaze orders in advance to maintain an efficient workflow with zero pending jobs by the end of each shift.

Quality Assurance (Pre- & Post-QC): Inspect raw lenses and frames, verify prescriptions (SPH, CYL, Axis, ADD, monocular PD, Fitting Height), check the end spectacles for the prescription and fit out and final alignment.

Final Packaging Standard: Clean finished lenses thoroughly and neatly package every completed order with its designated case, cleaning cloth and packed in dispatch bags in time for riders to take them to branch

Software & Dispatch Management: Log into SAP B1 and OptiTrack systems to update order statuses in real time upon completion and when dispatching ready jobs to branches via delivery riders.

Machine Care & Maintenance: Perform daily routine maintenance, slurry management, filter cleaning, and basic troubleshooting on workshop equipment (HPE-410D Edger, HAB410 Blocker, lensmeter, frame heater, sonic cleaner).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Grade 12 School Certificate (O-Level) or A-Level pass. Extensive on-the-job training on equipment and optical standards will be provided.

Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy to navigate computer for updating on software

Key Attributes: Positive attitude, strong willingness to learn, high attention to detail, and a sharp, proactive mindset.

Physical & Practical Aptitude: Good manual dexterity for handling delicate frames, lenses, and workshop tools.

English speaking skills both verbal and written
