Background
Infowise Enterprises Limited is a forward-thinking technology and infrastructure company based in Lusaka. Alongside our enterprise engineering and solar solutions, we build and manage innovative, high-efficiency commercial aquaponics and hydroponics systems.
We are expanding our agricultural operations and are seeking a practical, skilled Agronomist & Aquaculture Specialist to join our team in Lusaka. For this role, we are prioritizing candidates with strong, hands-on experience in both fish farming and traditional crop cultivation. While direct experience in hydroponics or aquaponics is not required, you must have a solid foundation in biology, crop management, and fish care, combined with an eagerness to adapt your skills to our advanced systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Crop Management: Oversee the planting, growth, and health of our primary crops—specifically focusing on lettuce and strawberries—ensuring maximum yield and quality.
- Fish Farming Operations: Manage daily fish health, feeding schedules, stocking, and general aquaculture husbandry.
- Water Quality Monitoring: Test and manage key water parameters (pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, ammonia, and nitrates) to ensure a healthy ecosystem for both fish and crops.
- System Learning & Adaptation: Work closely with our engineering team to learn our recirculating commercial systems, scaling your existing fish and crop knowledge into our high-tech environment.
- Preventative Care: Identify, diagnose, and treat crop pests/diseases and fish health issues early to prevent crop or stock loss.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Core Experience: Dual experience in both fish farming (aquaculture) and crop cultivation is highly preferred.
- Crop Specialization: Direct, practical experience growing lettuce and/or strawberries is a major advantage.
- Hydroponics/Aquaponics Experience: Not required. We will train the right candidate on our specific recirculating systems, provided you have strong fundamentals in traditional crop and fish management.
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Aquaculture, Fisheries, Horticulture, or a closely related field.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly self-motivated with a desire to transition into technology-driven agriculture.
- Location: Based in Lusaka.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and growth opportunities within a highly diverse engineering and technology enterprise.
- Direct training and hands-on experience in commercial-scale, modern aquaponics.
- The chance to be at the forefront of sustainable, smart farming in Zambia.
