Job Purpose
Monitoring the overall performance of the Deposit Insurance Fund and, to prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial and other records relating to the activities of the Deposit Insurance Scheme including premium collection, investments portfolio and target fund.
Main Accountabilities
- Monitor premium collections and produce regular reports on the performance of the Deposit Insurance Scheme to inform management decisions.
- Review and recommend adjustments to the levels of premiums, target fund and coverage limits;
- Prudently manage the Deposit Insurance Fund and investments to optimize the size of the Fund in order to align with the objectives of the Deposit Insurance Scheme.
- Participate in the review of the regulatory framework and propose changes in line with market developments and international best practice on deposit insurance;
- Review and analyse prudential and deposits data submitted by member institutions to ensure that accurate information pertaining to depositors is maintained and performance indicators generated;
- Review and analyse information of the member institutions and manage risks to the Fund through sound advice on investment strategies and liquidity management;
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly off-site analysis reports on investment portfolio, liquidity, and market conditions benchmarked against strategic and operational plans; and
- Undertake research on deposit insurance systems and practices to improve the overall management and administration of the Fund.
Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of the BFSA and other laws, regulations and guidelines related to the financial sector.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Computer Literate with strong Excel skills
- Interpersonal and Communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Presentation skills
Key Knowledge and Attributes
- Bachelor of Arts (BA)/Bachelor of Science (BSc) (in Accounting, Business Administration, finance or equivalent, CA, ACCA, CIMA will be an added advantage
- Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ levels ( credit or better)
- Three (3) years’ relevant experience
