Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in civil and structural construction, with a strong practical background in steel structures, reinforced concrete, and aluminium works. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing construction activities, interpreting technical drawings, supervising contractors and artisans, conducting site inspections, and ensuring that projects are completed according to approved designs, quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise civil and structural construction works.
  • Supervise steel fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and installation.
  • Oversee reinforced concrete works, including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, formwork, and reinforcement, casting, and curing.
  • Supervise and coordinate aluminium works, including doors, windows, frames, cladding, partitions, and related installations.
  • Read, interpret, and work from civil, structural, architectural, and engineering drawings.
  • Conduct site measurements, setting out, inspections, and quality checks.
  • Prepare material take-offs, measurements, and assist with cost estimates and Bills of Quantities.
  • Monitor contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, and site teams to ensure work is completed correctly and on schedule.
  • Identify technical and structural problems on site and provide practical engineering solutions.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site reports.
  • Ensure materials and workmanship meet approved specifications and required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other professionals involved in projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Zambian construction, engineering, health and safety requirements.
  • Monitor the use of materials and minimize wastage and unnecessary costs.
  • Ensure proper documentation of drawings, measurements, inspections, variations, and completed works.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Practical experience in steel, concrete, and aluminium construction works.
  • Experience in construction site supervision and project coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and structural drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of relevant Zambian engineering and construction requirements.
  • EIZ registration/membership will be an added advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering.
  • Good understanding of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Practical knowledge of aluminium fabrication and installation.
  • Strong site supervision and project coordination skills.

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience in commercial buildings, industrial structures, warehouses, steel fabrication, concrete structures, aluminium systems, roofing, cladding, doors and windows, or general building construction will be highly preferred.
